Yeah. I've always loved pulp covers. So I made one from an old painting I made years ago.

I stripped the acrylic painting from color in photoshop, retaining the greyscales, then I reapplied other layers of color in illustrator (to get that "hand-colored" look).
Then I dreamed up some lively text, looked for a suitable "period" typeface, combined it with parts of a real pulp cover (the grey area and the "pocket book"-logo) for added authenticity. Voila!

Critique most welcome.

Wow! Thank you. I'll do some more, it's fun. :-)

A few friends of mine and myself are having an exhibition of fake book covers that opens next Friday. As I get more Jpgs ready, I'll post. Nothing beats positive feedback to get more work done. :-)
